Our story began in 1994, when we founded Šiloturist with a clear mission: to provide high-quality accommodation services in tourist apartments on the island of Island of Krk in Croatia. What started as a small initiative has grown over the past three decades into a diversified and dynamic tourism company with a strong presence in the region.

From the very beginning, our vision was to simplify the process of renting and managing accommodation for local property owners while making these services more accessible to travelers from around the world. To achieve this, we built strong relationships with property owners across the island and continuously invested in improving and expanding their properties. At the same time, we reinvested a significant portion of our earnings into developing accommodation capacities and complementary services, including transportation and curated local attractions.

Among these attractions are four well-known aquariums and the remarkable Biserujka Cave, which together attract approximately 150,000 visitors annually. These initiatives have helped enrich the tourism offering of the island while creating meaningful experiences for visitors throughout the year.

Early collaborations with property owners laid the foundation for a broad and reliable network of accommodations, supported by agency partnerships across Europe and beyond. By working closely with partners from countries such as the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Austria, we were able to support local owners in completing and equipping their properties to meet international hospitality standards. This approach not only enabled many homeowners to enter the tourism market but also ensured dependable, high-quality accommodation options for international guests.

As tourism on the island has increased over the years, so has the demand for engaging attractions beyond the natural beauty of the region. To meet this need, we expanded our portfolio of experiences. In 1997, we secured the concession for Biserujka Cave. Later, we developed an aquarium in Baška featuring Adriatic marine life, opened a tropical aquarium in Krk in 2015, and acquired an aquarium in Poreč in Istria. In 2017, we further enhanced our offering with a freshwater aquarium and terrarium in Krk.

Today, Šiloturist operates approximately 450 accommodation units and records around 130,000 overnight stays annually. Our team consists of 22 full-time employees and 23 part-time collaborators, working together in a professional yet family-oriented environment that emphasizes cooperation, reliability, and long-term partnerships.

Over the years, our work has been recognized with multiple awards for contributions to tourism development, reflecting our ongoing commitment to quality, innovation, and regional growth.
